Columbus Area

Is it me or is it close to impossible to find other Lapbanded people in our area?

I've met others with the band, but they are from California, Florida, Indiana and Michigan. My surgeon's support group for WLS are all gastric bypass folks. Our needs and experiences are so vastly different, I want to meet up with other people going through the same stuff!

I know I can NOT be the only person in the nation's 15th largest city to have had this procedure.

Reply if you're local!

Thank you to all of you for your prayers and well wishes. We got through this initial hard part and I'm looking forward to each day getting easier for me really now but keep a good thought for my mom as she had been caring for him 24 hours a day for more than 5 years with many illnesses but the worst was Alzheimers like dementia which is so devastating in my mind even worse than his heart disease and other physical things that he struggled with. He is in a better place now.

God bless to all and Thanks.

Kathy

Hi everyone ! I've been busy trying to get things moving here and it's been so worth it. I went to OSU where I'm going to have my surgery, got great information from them. Found out I needed to take a 6 mos. weight loss class to be approved by my insurance. They want the money for it up front.....that was a problem. But, that has been worked out....WOO HOO !!!! I remembered something I have I can borrow from and it should be taken care of in 2-3 weeks. I am SOOO excited !!!!

I had a great time getting together with a group of ladies who live where I do, thanks so much for letting me join you !! :)

I hope everyone is having a great week. This is my last week of summer. I go back to work next week . I'm almost ready....LOL...I kind of miss my kids and I'll be in a good class this year....YAY !!!!

Rhonda, are you a teacher? Best wishes for the new year. and.. Congratulations on the great news that you know where you stand with getting through the 6 months of diet and follow up. It will go quickly.

Take care.

Kathy

Thanks Kathy !

I'm an Assistant Teacher, since 1980. I guess you can say I love my kids

I'm so excited. I'm not worried about the 6 months. I'm just going to plan on having the surgery next summer, so I don't have to worry about work. It will give me the summer to work some things out and have some fun !

Kathy,

So sorry to hear about your folks. I know that has to be hard for everyone. I'm sure the Alzheimers was very hard on everyone. I've gone through all kinds of medical issues with Mom and it's hard, but mentally she's ok, that makes it easier. I truly feel for what your family must have gone through.

I totally agree, he is definitely in a better place now.

God bless you and your mom and the rest of your family.

Rhonda ((hugs))

Rhonda,

Who's your doc? Needleman or Mikami? Did we talk about this already? I had Mikami, and I love him.

If you want to talk about the particulars at OSU give me a shout.

Juli

I'm not sure who will be my doctor. I just went to the first meeting and met Mikami, had 1 question ask him after the meeting. He's very easy to talk to !

I'm impressed with what they have at OSU. It came highly recommended by my doctor for several reasons and he made perfect sense.

I need to do a 6 mos. diet there for my insurance so it will be a while for me. I figure probably not until next summer, since I won't have to take time off from work. I'm an Assistant in a school, so I have summers off...YAY !

I am waiting for the money I need for the class, but that's no big deal, I found a way to get it !

Thanks so much ! I bet as the time gets closer I'll be asking for more information. Right now I'm learning lots of good basics here.

Juli - I just realized you changed your avatar to a new picture of you in a cap and gown... from your MBA graduation girl??? Congratulations.

Thanks for the congrats.

It's my BS. I'm enrolled in Franklin's intigrated undergrad/grad program. I've been talking grad classes the last 8 months of my undergrad life.

I graduated on 17th but have another 8 months to go before I get the MBA in hand!

I'm so excited ! It didn't take long at all to get the form I need to get the money for the class I have to take for my insurance company. It was supposed to take 7-10 days and it took 4 days to get the form to fill out. I'm going to take it to work and make a copy of it before I send it back in. I was told it would take 7-10 days to get it back...........maybe not :)

I'm going to call OSU and see about scheduling, how I can go about doing that. If I can schedule for a class in a few weeks or a month, I'll probably be ok. We'll see.

Congrats Juli! You look beautiful in your cap and gown :-) You are truly an inspiration on so many levels!

Juli, Congrats. That is fantastic. You are really changing. Thin, healthy, degreed. Isn't being 40 a great thing? You look so happy in cap and gown.
