I have to go to the VA Hospital today for two different appointments. I hate the fact that every doctor's scale shows a heavier weight that what the VA furnished scale at home shows me.

Generally I weigh myself first thing in the morning when I am butt naked. This gives me the most accurate weight. My weight will vary a pound or two during the day. The time of day, when I go to the restroom and when I eat my meals will have an effect. When I go into the doctors office for a weigh-in, I can be an additional 5 pounds heavier. This is because my clothes, shoes, belt, wallet, eyeglasses, jacket, loose change, will all add to my body weight.

Yeah I have to keep in mind that scales are all going to be calibrated a bit differently. Also time of day and how much you've ate or drank that day can make a difference as well. When I weigh at home at the same time every day then later go to the dr in the afternoon it can be several pounds different. My dr said that the true weight is the naked after going to the bathroom first thing in the morning weight so that is what I go by.

It's really not a big deal. Choose one of the scales you get on as your measure -- your home scale probably is the one you use most, so that would be it. Think of the others as the scales you use for consistency, that is, to see that the number, regardless of what it is, keeps going down. Even better, ignore those scales.

All of us who have surgery get hung up on tenths of pounds; we get nuts over them. We get nuts over one or two pounds. Somewhere along the way I realized that, when I want to lose more than 100, a scale that's a pound or two off means Jack.

I have to get a new scale, and the Dr office does too.

It has not shown any change in almost 4 weeks. . .they must be both broke. . . It cannot be me. . .

Same with me but for only two weeks. I think the earths gravity must be getting higher.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
