Great advice from Dr

Recommended Posts

So my Dr asked if I was getting on the scale everyday. Well, "not everyday" lol

So he told me to stay off the scale. He said to get clothing (pants) one size smaller and try those on every week.

No one knows why weight loss happens like it does after surgery. Today you could lose 3lbs and think it's the food you ate today but next time you eat the same thing and no loss.

It made sense. But it's so hard because it has always been about the scale!! Look at Weight watchers. All about the scale and then they say " you had a bad week ? " When you didn't lose that week.

So I am putting my scale away until about 2 weeks from now. Just a peek. I'm getting out my smaller pants (of course I have sizes from 16-24)

Can't wait until I can shop at normal stores and not plus size stores. That is my new goal!

sounds like a good plan, I feel like i'm obsessed with the scale!! I'm with you i had pant from 16-22 in my closet, I am currently in my 16's for the last week or so.

I'm with you can't wait to shop at "regular" stores!!!

I've run the range of nothing in one week, to a high of 18 lbs down my first week after surgery. Most weeks are somewhere in between. Good for you for putting the scale away.

I weigh everyday because it keeps me accountable and I don't get bothered if it doesn't go down. I do like the idea of trying on smaller pants weekly. I bought a pair of jeans 3 years ago and could never fit in them. Way way too small. Anyway I tried them on a couple of weeks ago and much to my surprise, not only did they pull up easily, they zipped and buttoned easily! I wore them out and they were a little baggie when I got home.

Now I try on pants, shirts, rings and bracelets once a week. So much fun!

I weigh daily because it keeps me accountable. I also try on a couple of shirts every week when I do my measurements. My Buddha belly is my issue, and XL fits standing up but not sitting down.

You have a fun personality. I am new here but your posts make me giggle.

I too weigh everyday but I don't let it bother me when it doesn't move.....I feel like a learn a lot about my body by weighing everyday. But I totally agree that if the scale bothers you, put it away!....for me when I stop weighing it's like I've fallen off the wagon. :-) Everyone is different and you just have to find what works best for you. Good luck to you!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
