Surgery Approved - Now what?

I posted this in the DS section but it was suggested I post here too since it is a bit busier...

My insurance company just called and approved my DS surgery. I should have it before the end of December!!

So I have a few questions -

*How much help and for how many days should I expect to need from others (if any)? My mom offered to come and help me, but if I won't "need" it, I might would rather be peacefully alone lol.

*What are some "must haves" that I should purchase to have on hand before surgery?

*What are things you wished you would have done differently before surgery or while recovering?

*Any other help or advice?

I'm sooooo excited to start the next step of my journey to being healthy.

Hey Ally I am in Plano :)

I had the sleeve so a little different but as far as needing help keep in mind you will not be able to lift much for 5 or 6 weeks.

What do you do every day? Take care of kids? Walk the dog?

I didn't do laundry or load or unload the dishwasher for about a week. I went to the store with my husband but didn't lift anything. Of course, I have my hubby and 2 adult kids so maybe I milked it for all it was worth for as long as I could. I still make my husband take the wet clothes out of the washer sometimes for me because wet towels and jeans are heavy.

I do understand maybe wanting to rest alone but it really depends on what you have to do every day.

These are good points! Congratulations on getting your surgery date

Sorry, your approval. ☺☺

Thank you for replying. I will be off work, no kids. I had a hysterectomy a couple of years ago and remember I couldn't even put on my own socks and needed help to set up for a couple days.

Any comfort things that you are glad you purchased and had on hand?
