Yes, I had a pain pump for the first two days. Didn't use it all that often, but enough to know I was thankful for its presence.

I was in the hospital for 2 nights following my surgery and had the morphine pump the entire time. I LOVED it. I don't know why so many people worry about it. I would say I felt ZERO pain with this surgery.

I went home with liquid Tylenol with codeine. I used it for maybe 3 nights to help me get to sleep but didn't need it after that. I never used it at all during the day.

I'm a recovering addict- I've been clean for 7 years but I'm still very concerned with having narcotics I'm not trying to be a hero but I don't want to be under big pharma again

Talk to your doctor. There are non-narcotic options for recovering addicts and others who can't have narcotics due to allergy or intolerance

Agreed. Since you're recovering and don't want to be exposed to narcotics, please talk to your surgeon about alternatives. Some people do extremely well with just extra strength liquid Tylenol. Just talk to your doctor and see how it goes from there.

it's attached to your iv by anesthesiologist during surgery...when you wake up, it will be there...I had it before on a major open surgery years ago for a number of days

With my sleeve, no pump but tgey used dilaudid which is incredibly potent and powerful for the first 24hours, than they tried me on the lortab which was fine and went home with s bottle...

I already have chronic pain issues and on long acting narcotic so I was worried about pain management but it all went fine and it's more difficult to manage my pain bc of tolerance to narcotics but it all went well..was off the extra meds in less then two wks..

They can give you iv Tylenol and or torodol which is a nsaid. But via iv bypasses the stomach.... there are other options as well ..I'm sure that can be planned for in advance

I had a reaction to morphine pain pump after both csections and opted for something else they injected into my IV. Less itchy but for the life of me I don't remember what it is called. But it was good stuff!

I had a morphine PCA pump and it was wonderful. There's no prize for using the least amount of pain meds...I'd rather be comfortable and able to walk around than in pain and miserable. I went home with liquid morphine and liquid Tylenol and used both until I was feeling more normal and wasn't having any breakthrough pain at the end of the dosing period.

No but I sure wish they did the first night! By day 3 I wasn't taking anything

I had a pump on surgery day. Next day, literally at midnight, pump off and I did pills. Then when I got home later that day all I needed was Tylenol occasionally.

LOL most likely dilaudid , it's more commonly used bc it's not as addictive in the short term and it's ten times stronger then morphine but often well tolerated..

A lot of people like how it makes them feel so relaxed..doesn't do that to me but does help the pain !

I had daulidid when I woke up and then I could take oxys if i needed while in the hospital. I didn't take them though because they were going to send me home with tylenol.I figured i,might as well deal with it. Lol. Walking, and rest help. Also, try a heating pad. I'm so glad i had one that first week.

I stopped using it because I figured out it was the source of my nausea and vomiting for two days straight. The morphine was too strong for me.

I didn't have a pump, but if I was in a lot of pain -- which I was, at night -- and I went to them, they put a dose of morphine into my IV. Otherwise, it was just liquid tylenol.
