Drinking after eating soup etc...

So I was never told officially to not drink while eating. I just have been reading and it seems like the norm.

So do you all consider purée Soup, cream of Soups or Protein shakes eating? Do you wait half hour after eating these things to drink?

I find it hard to not take a sip of Water after eating cottage cheese etc..

Drinking after liquids doesn't matter. It does matter later drinking with solid food because you are pushing it through and limiting your time feeling full.

Right after surgery you should be "eating" your liquids and drinking all the time.

If I'm drinking my meal, like my breakfast protein shake, I will wait the 30 minutes. I figure anything with nutritional value I want it to have as much time in my stomach so that I can absorb the vitamins and nutrients. Water will flush everything through your system more quickly.

I asked my surgeon about that, and she said that the drinking rule must be followed, but it does not apply to Protein Shakes or broth soups. Otherwise, wait 30 minutes before drinking water.
