Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Biotin, b complex and Vitamin c. Once your post op they may tell you to temporarily stop taking them. I'm only 3 days post op, I see my Dr. next week and will find out when i can start back up.
October 6, 20169 yr Well, I tried everything suggested, and NOTHING stopped my hair loss from 5 months to over a year out. Grew back so slowly, and now at three years post sleeve, it is good. Hope a miracle works for some people. My miracle was a nice wig.

October 7, 20169 yr Author Is the hair loss like Patches or strands when brushing hair?? Every heath test I have had, I am absolutely healthy. I'm just too fluffy. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
October 7, 20169 yr Every time I brushed my hair the brush was full of hair, and when showering and washing my hair it fell off in the shower. I took worthless Biotin two years, way before the sleeve, I did it all.
October 7, 20169 yr I'm actually kinda thinking about picking out a couple of cute wigs. My hair is quite short and any hair loss is bound to be noticeable. I don't have my surgery date yet, but I'm going to start looking around now. Sent from my LGLS992 using the BariatricPal App

October 7, 20169 yr hair loss seems to happen to some - regardless of what they've done to prevent it. I lose a ton of hair pre-op - so not looking forward to what will happen post-op - but I'll deal with it if it happens. It's one of those things - it is what it is.
October 7, 20169 yr Same here..I'm worried as well. I'm hoping to have my surgery in November. My biggest fear since I already deal with it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Edited October 7, 20169 yr by Lucky2Lose
October 7, 20169 yr Mine started falling out around 4 months, I would comb it out with my fingers or brush before showering and it would be a handful of hair then in the shower more would fall out... I had thin hair but a lot of it lol, I took biotin stayed up in my protein/vitamins, if it's going to happen there's not much you can do.... I'm over 7 months now and I have little baby hairs all through the spots that we're getting really scalpy! I did cut my hair in a a-line and put highlights throughout it around 6 months and it looked and felt a lot thicker.
October 7, 20169 yr Is the hair loss like Patches or strands when brushing hair?? Every heath test I have had, I am absolutely healthy. I'm just too fluffy. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Many people do everything right and still have hair loss after WLS. Actually, it can happen after any weight loss. It doesn't just happen to people with other health problems or people who don't take their Vitamins or people who already have thin hair. It can happen to anyone, and often doesn't start until several months after surgery. The good news is it will grow back.
October 7, 20169 yr I have been worried about this as well because my hair is already so thin I wear a wig and weaves so no one can tell. I'm just scared after the surgery it'll be even thinner or I'll be completely bald and will have none of my own hair to help secure the wig or weave. I've been taking Biotin Forte for the past 2 years and it doesn't seem to help at all. Guess I'll deal with it when and if it happens.

I stopped using coloring products, and heat. I used major expensive shampoos and conditioners. It was scary for me, but now that I went through it, I only wish I had black hair because I saw some cute black wigs. I wore my wig almost 1 1/2 years, and it was so close to looking by my hair that no one even knew. Never buy a wig without trying them on! I have five I will end up donating to ACS.
