It happened to me too. I'm 3 weeks post op and it still happens some times. I think it just takes a while for the swelling to go down.

Everything is new and scary. Sip broths, etc, slowly, very slowly. It could be stress related. When in doubt always call your surgeon!!!!!

I'm 3 days post-op, and have a similar experience unless my sips are very, very, very tiny, and I allow time inbetween each swallow. So each swallow is all the way down before I take the next one. W

Hi everyone,
I am new here so I hope I am posting in the right place. I am 5 days post op. Whenever I ingest something whether it be broth or a Popsicle, I get this tight feeling in what I think is my esophagus and it makes the most ungodly noises and then it spasms then finally goes down. Has this happened to someone? When did it stop? It stops me from being able to eat bc it's painful.
