Fiber supplements

I've taken Fiber supplements (capsules) for years. My family doctor recommended due to colon cancer so heavy in my family. Do any of you take or is there an issue with the sleeve? I'm not scheduled until November 15th. So excited and trying to be totally prepared. Thanks!

I take a fiber supplement and have no issues with my sleeve. Of course, that's just my experience and you should always check with your doc before starting anything new, but I haven't had any issues whatsoever. I use both the Fiber Well powder packs (unflavored) that you can put in water or the Fiber Choice Sugar Free Gummies....either works great.

@@victorande My pre-op gastric sleeve class recommended soluble fiber like Benefiber and advised against insoluble fiber like metamucil (bulking agent). Not sure if that changes at some point in the future. I have been adding benefiber to hot tea the last few days. No issues.

I asked my surgeon this question at my 6 month appointment.

He said the good old orange flavored metamucil (I use the Walmart version) was fine if I wanted to up my fiber. I don't drink it daily....probably 2-3 times a week.

No problems noted thus far.

Benefiber every day in my water plus a little true lime powder.

Thank you for all your input. I will definitely check with surgeon at my next appointment. It's so nice to hear others' experiences on these forums...not just about the fiber.
