Help, please!

Hi all,

I had WLS/ vertical sleeve this past September.

Four months later, in January, my hair began to shed.

I knew that this happens, so I tried to just stick it out and not focus on it.

It's now 7 months since the shedding began and my hair is coming out with a vengeance.

I went from a big healthy head of hair to very thin hair with actual completely bare spots.

I cut it short, take Vitamins, try to eat very well, but no improvement.

Has anyone had this experience? Can anyone offer any advice?

I don't know what to do.

Would appreciate some input.

Thanks!!!

Dina

I have always experienced a lot of hair loss especially after surgery. My hairdresser suggested Biotin daily and to make sure I brush my hair a lot even if it is only one a day. (I wear mine up all day). Use a brush with bristles simular to what grandma used. When brushing brush the scalp. This messages and stimulates the scalp promoting growth. It has helped mine tremendously! I take 5000 mg of biotin. Daily

The nutritionist at my hospital recommended Journey hair Balance at BariatricEating.com. It's a supplement, mostly B Vitamins and minerals.

I'm doing a hair loss experiment with my surgery. Other than the first 2 days of clear liquids, I've never consumed under 90g of Protein. Now I'm up to 100g and I won't go below that. I also got a keratin treatment 13 days post op (protein treatment for your hair). I'm taking all my Vitamins as prescribed. I'm also going to use olaplex conditioner daily to promote growth and stop breakage.

I've got a few months to go to see if my experiment works or fails, but be assured I'll let you know then!
