Well for my insurance i automatically needed a sleep study the first appt with the sleep dr he just explained things, asked me some questions and set me up with a sleep study appt

I had a sleep study ordered bt my pcp, before I started the process and if helped for insurance. However, with that said, this specialist wanted me to have this or that test; ok it's good but please get cleared by this other specialist who would order a barrage of test. I truly felt because each test came back fine that it was all about how much money the hospital could get out of me and my insurance.

Before wasting time at another Dr - what was the purpose of this visit? Do you need a Sleep Study prior to surgery? If so - another Dr is going to do the same - refer you for a Sleep Study. A sleep study is done at home or in a sleep clinic. They won't test you at a Drs appt.

Even if I have to get one I would go somewhere else there service sucked and they explained nothing and also assumes I fall asleep while I drive which is crap how assume anything without any testing I have had not issues with sleep and I don't fall asleep while driving there appointments also is like 1-2 months apart which is wasting my time and that's the last thing on my last to get done

Speaking from my own exp with a sleep study...it.changed.my.life and I'm so glad I got one. I, too, thought it was frivolous but I did it. I learned my ahi was ins the 90s. They consider severe starting at 30. With the machine I avg 1.5 now. Normal range is less than 5. I dropped weight like crazy just from getting better sleep. Your neck size, shape of back of your throat and weight can affect your sleep. Before my sleep test, I separately went to an appt to pull wisdom teeth. That dr took a look and said I'd have to go fully under with breathing tube so I don't stop breathing during procedure. Between that and the medical weight loss clinic recommendation I did it and I feel sooooo much better everyday for having treatment for it. I've lost 60 lbs ...pre-op.
