Yes I was! I was the short girl with the red t-shirt asking all the questions, lol! I was with my mom. She came with me because she was so against the surgery at first. After we left, she was convinced that I needed it. I think I remember you. We're you with your husband? I think I saw you sitting next to the wall closest to the entrance door of the room. I remember you smiling at me. Congrats on your cardiac clearance! I got my surgery date very soon. They actually got me approved 8 days after that first appointment. I am now on my 3rd day of the liquid diet. So far, it's not as hard as I expected. I'm obviously hungry, but I'm not completely miserable. My surgery date is August 4th. How are you doing? Yes, that was me. I dragged my hub to the appt with me so he'd hear for himself what support I would need without a debate later. I remember feeling like I was in a room full of people that could understand me, whereas often times I am not. That was an unexpected but pleasant surprise for me. I remember seeing you reading the binder and saying to your mom "..this is why I have to have this surgery..". I understood you were making your case to someone who wasn't sure about it even though you were. It was refreshing to see your confidence facing a major life event. Honestly, when I doubt myself I think back to that moment and remind myself of all the reasons why I have to have this surgery. I am so happy you're mom learned a bit more about it and came around! And so happy for you that Dr Miles moved it along to help save your sight. My sis in TX had hers early this month. She's doing great and she pointed me to this group. I've only had about a months experience with her myself. I usually have success reaching her via email with multiple questions and give my phone number to call when I know I can keep my phone handy. I have sensed she might have a workload issue, but the cause is unknown to me. The day of my consult I did see every chair filled in the lobby, so I assume they work with a lot of patients, especially self pay. I just remind myself it is Dr Miles handling the surgery and she's fielding a lot of our questions, needs and emotional roller coaster rides.

Here is one! HR over defends and over explains why our insurance doesn't cover surgery. This comes when I ask how long in advance should I request my loan and do FMLA paperwork. Why do I care to hear it over again? I am shown examples of the fat binders full of paper she has to go thru and reminded she can be held personally liable for all the regulations and laws. THEN I hear "congratulations! I'm a fan of that show My 600lb Life. I'm behind you all the way!".....whole time I'm thinking please stop talking and just give me a timeframe that answers my two questions-I don't need all that phony jazz! ...whew feel better. Speaking from my own exp with a sleep study...it.changed.my.life and I'm so glad I got one. I, too, thought it was frivolous but I did it. I learned my ahi was ins the 90s. They consider severe starting at 30. With the machine I avg 1.5 now. Normal range is less than 5. I dropped weight like crazy just from getting better sleep. Your neck size, shape of back of your throat and weight can affect your sleep. Before my sleep test, I separately went to an appt to pull wisdom teeth. That dr took a look and said I'd have to go fully under with breathing tube so I don't stop breathing during procedure. Between that and the medical weight loss clinic recommendation I did it and I feel sooooo much better everyday for having treatment for it. I've lost 60 lbs ...pre-op.
