Anyone going or have been to Schmitt and Miles in Birmingham?

I went for my consultation with Dr. Miles in June. I really liked the doctor, but his patient advocate was a nightmare to deal with. I eventually ended up switching doctors because of her.

I'm using dr Shmidt. So fat everything is going smoothly. I have two diet visits left and a nutrition class and I'm all sat.

I have been using Miles since September. I have been jumping through insurance hoops all this time because they just assumed I didn't need a weight loss study when in actuality I did. I was way less than thrilled. The patient advocate for Miles is kind of terrible. She is always out of the office, or just doesn't show up for the day. I have called twice, multiple times a day, just for her to never show up, one of those was RETURNING HER PHONE CALL. Its been kind of a nightmare dealing with her. Sonny, the woman who sends your stuff off to insurance also has a bad habit of not being there most of the day. All this said, I am excited to finally be nearing my surgery with Dr. Miles. He seems very competent and was very supportive when I saw him at my consultation. He really seems to know what he's doing even if his staff isn't the best.

Hope this helps you out!

I've only had about a months experience with her myself. I usually have success reaching her via email with multiple questions and give my phone number to call when I know I can keep my phone handy. I have sensed she might have a workload issue, but the cause is unknown to me. The day of my consult I did see every chair filled in the lobby, so I assume they work with a lot of patients, especially self pay. I just remind myself it is Dr Miles handling the surgery and she's fielding a lot of our questions, needs and emotional roller coaster rides.

Try dealing with Ashley. She is Dr. Schmitts advocate but they work close together from what I understand. She is a little more dependable and seems to be leading patients in their proper avenues.
