Appeal process

Okay, so I was denied in April by UHC because I did not have a comorbidity.did a sleep study and I have sleep apnea which does qualify as a comorbid condition and now I should be approved to have the surgery. I have emailed my surgeons office twice and received no response. Do I have to have them file the appeal or can I?

I think you have to have the surgeon's office file the appeal.

After finally finding uhc's benefits handbook I can file the appeal, but I think it would be so much easier if they would.

You can file the appeal if they are not responding. If you call your insurance company, they can send you the appeal application. I will admit though, it is much easier for the Surgeon's office to do it.

That's what I was thinking. I'm just wondering about starting all over with a new surgeon since they're not responding.
