Preop diet blues

Hi I'm a 36 yr old woman. My wife and I are both being sleeved on June 22nd. We started our week of preop clear liquids yesterday. We went and met with anesthesia....signed consents...labs took our official "before" picture and signed this awful agreement acknowledging exactly how many things could go wrong...mortality rate...blah blah blah. I'm a nurse that used to work on a bariatric floor and I thought it would prepare me better for this. It's both exciting and completely terrifying at the same time. The food addiction train I've been on has officially ran off the tracks and now we get to face it head on. Lol I've already cried twice. Its really a lot to process. But here we are. So hello!

@@julie752 I am a nurse too... working in an ICU... I wish you both all the best as you start this new journey!!!

Congrats on starting your journeys together! That should help the both of you in your recovery and lifestyle changes since you'll have each other to lean on. If I could offer one suggestion, though, it would be to have someone there at your house the first few days to assist the both of you. You'll have some pain after recovery, and it'll be easier to have a third party there to help. Plus, you'll need someone to drive the both of you home! As your recovery progresses, you can motivate each other to get up and move around which will greatly diminish any gas pains. Just be there for each other, and you'll do fine!

Let us know if you have any questions!

Yep because of me sticking to the diet my liver was Uber tiny...and my hour and a half procedure was 30mins. I was super nauseous with the anesthesia. We're both home doing great...struggling to get our fluids in. I e had friends go thru this and the struggle is real to get that in!!!
