Had my first appt!

Had my mental health assessment and met with the surgeon today. It went really well and turns out I am not to crazy after all.

She said she sees no red flags and that VSG would be a good fit for me!

Excited to have finally started this process.

Congrats on starting your journey! Do you have to do supervised visits first? Good luck with your journey.

I'm awaiting my consult with the surgeon. OMG! what did she ask?? if you don't mind. I have been driving myself crazy with nervousness. I don't want him to turn me away since I have no medical complications but a high BMI. congrats! I know you are super happy.

Hmm... No. I don't believe so. I meet with the dietician and someone else next week. Then I have 3 classes to attend. Then everything is submitted to the board and will schedule a surgery date.

I was the same way. I felt like I waited forever. I took my mental health assessment first then had a resident come in and ask a few questions about my health etc. she went over the different options. Then the surgeon came in and basically asked the same thing and we decided the sleeve was the best fit for me.

It was definitely nothing to worry about. They were all really nice. Oh I also got blood work done today as well.

Wow, that's awesome that you don't have the months of appointments! I am 8 days post op and feeling great! You'll love it.

My psych eval was more like a convo. I was supppppper nervous too. I thought the Dr would for sure think I was nuts and not qualified lol. I just acted very cool and collected. They ask your reasons for wanting the surgery. They ask how long it took you to gain the weight. They ask what diets you've tried. They ask about your bad eating habits ( someone told me to NOT tell them you stress eat because it could disqualify you). And they ask about your support system at home. Then they send the eval to the insurance and to the surgeon.

so you see the psych before u actually have a consult with the surgeon?

ok! we shall see then.

I saw the surgeon then h told me all my requirements to getting approved.I had, 3 Nutrition meetings, 3 bariatric info session meetings, and one psych eval. Once I finished those I saw the surgeon, insurance approved it, then saw the surgeon again to get the surgery date. After getting the surgery date, The nurse set me up with all my pre op testing. (There's a lot)
