There are various "recipes" for shakes that you can find online, and some are surprisingly yummy. I like Unjury's chocolate Protein shake with a little PB2 powder blended in, or a Torani sugar free sy

Sean I never added Protein powder to the bone broth I made. That would have churned my stomach. Bone broth is so much better than store bought consume. Please try that. Then get your protein in with shakes. Here is a link for the broth http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/beef-bone-broth-51260700

Feel your pain. I believed "them" when they said you get a 6 month hunger holiday and wouldnt want food at all. Im one week post-op and starving. I get my Protein in. And im still desperate for food. And sad and depressed. Realizing those feelings were expected, im gritting my teeth and bearing it. But i thought it would be more mental. Not physical. I physically am brought to my knees by the smell of food. It all looks n smells great. Nothing looks bad.

I'm feeling the same. Also having some emotional problems. Feeling useless like I can't get anything done. Feeling bad for my 5 year old I can't do much with him cuz I'm healing..a lot going on at one time rhen dealing with the food issue...it's very tough and I don't think I was mentally prepared.

Hang in there. It's rough right now but going to be soooooo worth it in the long haul. Look at it this way next Memorial Day weekend is going to be so much better

I've been crying too occasionally. Totally out of character for me. I think it's depression. Hope I snap out of it.

I think there's hormones, I also think surgery brings big changes so it would be normal to have reactions.. New mothers have bouts of depressions etc... Changes overwhelm most of us for a bit, we don't like moving from the familiar-eating what we want when we want into the unfamiliar - eating certain things at certain intervals... Combine that with there's a fear early on of wanting to be successful and not knowing yet if you will be successful... While healing your still uncomfortable which leads to do things differently they you may have done them before... Once we move past all that, we get to the part where the progress starts to show and that will be makes us smile.

@@sean72977,

What can you do? Count the seconds until you can add mushies back in. Make sure you’re meeting your current Protein, calorie, and Fluid goals. Try different Protein shakes for fun. Watch the scale go down. There’s not much you can do besides wait out the post-op liquid diet. You can do it! Stay strong; you’re at one of the toughest points of the journey, and you’ll feel proud and empowered when you succeed at it.
