Yoga Confidence

Recommended Posts

I have always felt semi uncomftorable in group fitness or yoga classes. I'm not sure if it's all the mirrors and funny unappealing angles or what...

I get there early and hide in the back corner where I feel "safe". Well today during my yoga class the back corners were all full and I had to take a spot front and center.....which is have assumed should have caused me a full on panic attack!

But NO!!!!!! I owned it. And felt comftorable in full on skin tight yoga gear, in front of and surrounded by the typical skinny yoga chicks.

And even more mind blowing.....looking in the mirror standing next to them I actually didn't recognize myself. I looked long and lean and like one of those skinny yoga chicks! It blew my mind. No more hiding in the back!

So glad I never let my insecurities get in my head and continued to pursue yoga in addition to the typical "gym stuff". It's seriously become so relaxing, empowering and super helpful with strength and flexibility. :) Highly recommend it to any and everyone!

God bless "full on skin tight yoga gear"...

Well done @@treblecutie23

All men on the planet owe the inventor of this a beer.

@@treblecutie23 - Congrats. That is an amazing NSV. It is startling when you don't recognize yourself for the first time. I remember getting to class late, and all my favorite hide outs were gone. I almost considered bagging the class. It was a great confidence builder not to wimp out. Please feel free to share pictures of your downward dog. (I mean just for pointers and encouragement).

This is so great to hear. I am looking forward to the day I can get on the floor to take a yoga class.

Boy, do I understand this!

Getting down on the floor has been one of my best NSVs from WLS. And not only getting down there, but getting back up again. Sometimes, I swear, I just sit or lie on the floor to enjoy how easy it is to get up again.

It's magnificent! :)

And what shocks me that more men don't come to yoga. ;) lol

Absolutely cannot agree more!!!! I used to hate having to try and get myself up off the floor....even just at home playing with my son.

Now it's not a problem. :) Heck now the only floor problem is how sore it makes my butt now that I've lost all my cushion! lol.

Bit of a cheeky comment, but it is something I've long considered but am just a little bit shy about it. My best friend's wife is huge into yoga; does it nearly every day. She's encouraged me to go, and she'd make a good yoga buddy to help me get over my shyness...but she's 2000 miles away. Maybe someday I'll make a go of it.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
