  • Hello ... day # 12 of pre-op diet, so far I have survived thru a bday party, 2 baby showers, a wedding reception and an awards banquet with only my pre-op diet... this liver better have shrunk!!! Lol,

  • I'm on day 5 and it gets easier! I think the first 2 days were the worst. My pre-op is not all liquid, I get to have 3 oz of lean Protein and 2 cups of salad or veggies for dinner so that is helping

I know, right? I just had 10 people at my house on Saturday for a graduation BBQ. I made grilled chicken breasts, grilled Italian sausage, sautéed peppers and onions, homemade potato salad, homemade baked Beans, and Peanut Butter bars with chocolate frosting. Someone brought cheesecakes, gin and tonic, microbrew beer, wine. I COULDN'T EAT ANY OF IT!!! This liver better shrink like crazy, but I have been eating a very low carb diet since January, so I'm not sure it'll happen. My 2 week pre-op diet consists of 4 liquid "meals" a day and 4 servings of fluids. Meals can include shakes (I am enjoying nectar by Syntrax), low/no fat cream Soups, low-cal greek yogurt, almond milk, that's about it. Fluids include sugar-free Jello, s-f popsicles, s-f hot chocolate, s-f juice diluted 1:4 with Water. Also any of the zero cal drinks like Sobe... and no soda at all. That's about it. I am on day 5 of 14 and can't get rid of the headache. I also need to stop drinking coffee for 2 weeks post-surgery, so I am working on eliminating caffeine. I'm down, from 5+ cups of coffee a day to one cup of half-caff in the morning, and decaf the rest of the time. I've been working on that for the past month, and I don't have a headache in the morning, so I don't think my headache is coming from lack of caffeine. Everybody said this wouldn't be fun... and they were right!
