No weight loss?

My husband had his sleeve done 3 weeks this coming Wed. He hasn't lost much weight at all this past week and he is really only having 4 Protein shakes a day. Occasional broth or Jello, but not much at all. He has lost 1lb over the past few days and is quite frustrated. I wonder if his body is starving so not losing, but I'm not sure what rate he should be losing.

  • Yes, that is why he's so frustrated! I will tell him maybe weekly, we will see how that goes. Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

Do a search on these forums for "week 3 stall". Nearly every single WLS patient experiences a stall on the scale around 3 weeks post-op. It's completely normal. Just have your husband stick to his surgeon's food plan, get his water in, and move around as much as possible. The stall can last anywhere from a couple of days to a couple of weeks, but it will break eventually and the scale will start moving again.

How much water is he drinking? If he's getting in enough water and protein - then he'll lose. Often people go through a stall at this stage. Stay off the scale and just keep following the plan!

Thank you, that is good to hear, at least it's not uncommon.
