Start of a new beginning...

Recommended Posts

I have recently decided to start the process for bariatric surgery. I have struggled with my weight my entire life. I have had feelings of low to no self-worth, refuse to go on vacations and when forced to, it's frequently the worst memories I have.

I'm a workaholic. I find that working all the time keeps my mind off my weight. I tend to shy away from the mirror totally.

I'm a 28 year old professional guy. I graduated with my masters at 21, am a CPA, and have had a successful career since graduation. However, advancement in my personal life has never progressed because of my weight.

I finally had enough. Last January I started with a personal trainer... And over the last year and a half have managed to gain about 10-15 pounds. Talk about a punch in the face. I am not sure if y'all's experiences. However, when I committed in my mind to this surgery, I was excited-nervous-scared-back to excited.

I would like to know why you chose sleeve instead of bypass or band.

When I told my family they said things like "but you are only heavy on top - you can be disciplined and just do better" or "why not do it the natural or hard way" or "I am afraid you'll die." I have also had some friends and family that are happy and excited - even my personal trainer is supportive and strangely excited.

@@taxudown - I didn't like the idea of a permanent band in my body or part of my stomach unattached in my body.

Having most of my stomach removed seemed logical. It still functions pretty much the same just can't eat as much.

I have NO regrets.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
