4 days post sleeve and...

Everything stinks like strong garlic and onions? Why is that? Smells are so strong... I can't tolerate it, and usually I looove cooking with sautéed onions, mushrooms, garlic and green peppers. It all started when I came home Thursday evening around 7pm.. surgery was Wednesday at 10am... my husband had made sauce, Pasta, meatballs and garlic cheese bread for he and the kiddos Thursday before they picked me up. I damn near died when I walked in the house. Zofran saved my life that night. I had to air the whole house out... and since, I can smell garlic and onions in everything and my Piss and sweat still smell like strong penicillin... ????????????

If you are not eating many carbs, you can go into ketosis (which is a good thing, it helps burn fat). Ketosis does/can do really weird things to your breath, your senses of taste and smell, your body odor, even what your pee smells like (sorry!). So that might be what is going on for you.

I was VERY sensitive to smells and tastes in the beginning. BUT...it does get better. A little at a time, you will notice that smells aren't so bad and your tastes will totally return to normal! Hang in there!! I'm 4 months out.
