RNY 3/14/16 4 days Post Op the only pain I'm having is gas pain lower left abdomen. What has worked for you? How long did this last? It's 9/10 on pain scale when I'm getting in or out of bed. Other than that, no complications. Please help. This gas pain is hell.

  • Unfortunately, gas pain like that can only be reduced with time and moving around. Some of it may be relieved with Gas-X Strips, but generally this gas that was pumped into your abdomen during surgery

  • Just make sure it's caffeine-free! That does sound lovely though, with or without gas pain.

Thank you guys. And good luck to you on your surgery. For me, the hardest part has been this gas pain...at times it makes me question if this will ever be worth all of this pain. Thank you for the support.

I had terrible gas pain. For me walking, sipping and the use of a heating pad really helped it dissipate. I also used gas x when my bowels began working again. That pain can be pretty uncomfortable.
