  • A pharmacist told me to take Zinc supplements or COLD EEZE (which has a lot of zinc in it.)

  • I have a terrible cold too, but I'm not having surgery until the 30th. Is it weird I'm still stressed that it might not be gone? Lol. Drink some tea and lots of Water and sleep all weekend. I hope you

I was scheduled for my sleeve on 3/3 and came down with a cold 3/1, the dr ended up rescheduling (for his reasons not because of me) but I just got sleeved on 3/8 and all that was left of my cold was a little stuffy nose that they didn't even notice!

I think I will be ok come Monday. I am pretty much just stuffed up now. I will try to get plenty of rest/fluids over the weekend. How did your surgery go? You are only 2 days out right?

I tried to drink a lot of oj and water until my surgery and I only had a 1 day liquid diet the day before.

My surgery went well I was sleeved on Tuesday afternoon and came home last night about 5. The clear liquids are not really a problem as I'm not hungry, but the tiny sips are hard to do.... If I sip to fast my throat starts like gurgling till I burp, it's wierd!

Oh my gosh I know how you feel! My stepson and husband have had colds this week and I'm just praying I don't get it! I'm taking Airborne. Hope that does the trick!

I got sleeved on 2/29 and had a TERRIBLE cold. I was so nervous it would interfere with my surgery but my doctor said I should be fine. I was told by someone the anaesthesia would help it and it DID! My cold was completely gone after I went under. It really helps dry up the system. Don't worry you should be fine and to top it off the saline IV should keep you hydrated which further stops the cold.

The concern seems to be around breathing and the heavy sedation that is used for the surgery. Now, during the surgery, I was on a ventilator, but I think there are still concerns, perhaps for the recovery period when they have removed you from the ventilator but you're still pretty whacked? In any case, I would say best thing for your own safety is to be open with your surgical team as to your condition and to ask them questions.
