Not sure who I should tell!

I'm a nurse in an ER. My surgery is scheduled for 3/28. I have only told my children (grown) and husband. They are beyond supportive. I haven't told anyone at work because I don't want to hear horror stories of patients they've taken care of and come in with some type of blockage or worse. I also don't want the negativity of their opinions. Most of all, I don't want anyone watching what I eat or questioning me. (My plan is to stick to everything I've been told to a T). I don't feel like it is anyone's business, however, they will notice I'm losing weight and working with all women, (they tend to be nosey!) I'm sure they'll ask me what I'm doing to lose the weight. Plus they will all know that I'm out for a couple of weeks, and I had to tell my boss that I was having surgery, but I did not elaborate, nor should I have to.

Any suggestions??

Thanks in advance!

Who you tell is entirely up to you. I have heard several great answers to nosey questions. The least confrontational was something like, I've been eating carefully and working out a lot. I am sure

The only people I told about my band to sleeve revision was my mom and aunt since I needed them to take me to the hospital and watch my son. I feel this is a very personal decision and it really isn't

I have told five people- husband, mother, sister, very good friend, and my boss (who is wonderful). Aside from that I told folks that I was having a hernia repair to help with acid reflux that is causing some issues with ulceration (which is actually the the truth since I did the hernia at the same time as RNY). Everyone knew/saw that for the last 8 months or so I was eating a lot healthier and exercising, and I had already lost about 26lbs which folks had commented on previously. My main reason for not being more open at work isn't my department but rather folks in other departments who might lean more towards being catty or telling horror stories.

Thanks, I deleted mine. That was dumb on my part.

I'm in the similar boat... My parents, sister and husband now. I will not tell anyone else. People are easy to judge and I don't want to hear it.

I don't want to tell my boss, even thou I will be out for 2/3 days.

I wonder if the Doctor will say on a note I got my gallbladder removed?
