Pre-Op diet question

I'm on day 2 of my 14 day diet. And I am struggling! My surgeon requires 2 Protein shakes and 4oz of meat and veggies for dinner.

What I don't get is why the limit on meat intake? I thought the purpose was to get more protein. Anybody have any idea why this is?

Every surgeon has a different pre-op diet. The best thing for me was to focus on what I COULD have instead of what I COULDN'T.

Definitely call your NUT if you have questions or if you aren't clear on what you can have.

I couldn't give you any better advice, so I didn't... :)

It could be for a few reasons, one to get you used to eating smaller portions, two to make sure you're also keeping your fat intake down as the point of pre-op is to reduce the liver.

Everybody has given good advice, the main 2 reasons is to shrink the liver and have more weight loss so there is more room for the surgeon to work. Every stage is going to be a challenge but we all had an idea of what we were getting into. When things get tough just sit back and remember why you are doing this. Turn to your loved ones for support, and you have this community too.
