I am 32 years old and have a BMI of 47. I have been checking out this site for a while now and just wanted to say hello. I finally made the decision to have lap band done and I am so excited. I had consult with surgeon and attended the seminar in Groveport, Ohio on the 27th of this month. I am really hoping to get approval from insurance company and be banded very soon. I have bc/bs ppo so any information on how long it may take would be helpful.

Hi, Sdaniel75- good for you! I just got banded last friday. No regrets. I have BC/BS of Oregon. It excludes WLS. Its a group policy so yours may be different. I have heard BCBS is good from a lot of people. Good luck on your journey.

Good for you on your decision. I have been banded for four months today. Wt loss 45 lbs since surgery...50 lbs since starting the whold process. Insurance companies across the country are all so different. Basically they have a coverage allowance and a restriction policy. I contacted them and ask exactly what was needed to have the surgery. I then followed the path to achieving my desire to be banded. It was well worth all the documents, test and waiting. Best of luck!
