Went to orientation yesterday

I'm new to this forum - a friend who has had lap-band surgery recommended it to me. DH and I went to orientation yesterday - and we're both excited. We have to do the psych eval, go to a dr.'s talk, and visit a support group before we can schedule surgery and get final approval from HMO.

I live in CA, married nearly 33 years to the love of my life have son, daughter, step-daughter, 4 step-grand-children and a grandson on the way.

Hi MissyKatz, and welcome! You'll love this board, so check it often. You took the first step, and it gets pretty intense in terms of "appointments" before the actual surgery. I am still pre-band myself and have all those appts scheduled: surgeon, psychiatrist, nutritionist, exercise physiologist, education day, and just went to support group. My head is spinning a little, but I'm determined to go forward! Glad to have you sharing the journey!

Hi Missy - glad you made it here - you'll find some good info.:clap2: And I'm here...:heh:

Just made appointment today for consultation on Aug 13th. Getting letters of necessity from all my docs and praying I can convince my insurance to cover this.

Just discovered this forum tonite and am very excited about it!!

Hi BlueEyedKitty (love that name!) and WELCOME!

Welcome MissyKatz! Congratulations on starting the process. I am in the process as well leading up to having my ppw submitted to my insurance for approval for the surgery. I like to think I am close to the final step before my surgery since I already have my consult appt w/my surgeon on Aug 13th and @ that time they will submit my ppw to my insurance company. Good Luck w/your journey and keep us posted!
