Claiming costs on your tax return

Hello fellow Canadians,

Has anyone had their surgery in a previous tax year and claimed the expenses on your tax return?

Can you share any information on how this worked and if the benefit back was reasonable (without sharing any personal details of course)?

    Yes I am in Canada and I have done this twice and am going to do it again for 2015 taxes. I believe you get 20% back. They will also re-assess you so you will send in your receipt and any supporting documents.
