  • I have a tentative date of Feb 17. Waiting on insurance pre-auth. Looking for a buddy as well... It would be good to compare notes on our journey.

  • Thank you! Heard back from the case manager. She put me on hold and went to ask the surgeon directly. He's fine with any OTC meds so long as they don't contain aspirin or ibuprofen. Said we're a go. T

  • Haha! My dog smelled like Doritos one morning, which happen to be my favorite....I really feared for his life!!! 5 more days till surgery and I'm hungry tonight!! Stay away poochie!

I've been happy with my water intake. Around 30 the first day home, 55 yesterday and probably that today. Plus today I had my first protein shake (mixed with 8 oz water). I'm not sure if I should be happy I can swallow this stuff or concerned. Mainly I'm happy because I was so nauseated and sick right after surgery.

Just had my surgery on Monday. Live in GA. I have had pain and gas/indigestion since surgery. Doc has me on pain meds and anti nausea med. not able to get much down. Wants me to focus on water/crystal lite and protein soup. Sip! Sip! Sip!! Best wishes! What part of GA you from? I live in Gainesville.please keep in touch!

Shiloh2004...have you tried using a heating pad for gas? I was getting very uncomfortable and put heating pad on my belly. It helped me to expel some gas and was feeling much better. I also believe that the heat stimulates your digestive tract. Be careful with pain meds as they can cause constipation. Not to get too personal, but are you able to move your bowels? Hope you feel better soon!

You must just be settling in. Welcome to the Losers' Bench!

Having a very hard time. Had surgery on 2/15. Everything went smoothly. On Sunday, 2/21, I received a call from my nephew in WV. He told me my only sibling (older brother) was in ICU and they were calling in the family. We arrived 2/22 at noon. He was in an induced coma. I got Togo back and be with him several times and talked to him. My prayer is that he was able to hear me. I was even able to have a little time alone with him. By that time, his lungs, kidneys, and liver had shut down. Machines were keeping him alive. He had told his wife he never wanted that. At 7:25 PM she told the staff to remove him from the machines. He died within 2 minutes.

This is killing me. We were close. I could always count on him. As my big brother, he always protected me when I was a kid. I miss him so much. All of this has caused problems with my diet and exercise. I am not getting in enough nutrients. I am not exercising. I am exhausted and very depressed. I know I need to get back on track. But I don't really care. What do I do?

Honeygirl, death is just an extension of life. Focus on yourself a minute by remembering your times together.

I Believe he's with the angels and having a great time and besides ,he'd not want you to let his transition cause you to relapse.

I am so sorry you are having to go through this!

Especially after all of the stress of your surgery! Hang in there! Sending hugs and prayers your way!

Thanks Newbie 312. I just can't snap out of this. It's just too much for me to handle at once. Now I find out that I have 2 more weeks on the liquid diet. I am so sick of that diet. I need to chew something. I need something to eat!

Thanks by pepper! I know he is in a better place now. I know he wouldn't want me to use his death as a roadblock to me getting better. I just feel totally overwhelmed. But I will get through. He was a strong man, and I am his sister. I have some of his genes. I have a great support system! Maybe the greatest! But depression just is a bear. I will rely on my support system and I will get through.

I totally understand about needing something to chew. I told my husband I was going to lick the Bologna on his sandwich!!! Are you having problems? Why are they keeping you on liquid diet? Hang in there! Prayers be hugs!
