Using the basics forum as a free for all.

I have seen so many people not using the forums for their intended purposes, and as someone who likes organization it drives me nuts. If you go to the sleeve pre-op forum there are so many posts of people looking for similar surgery dates or people who live near them. There are already boards for this, and they're just clogging up the pre-op board.

Go to support groups and you can find people who had surgery at the same time, people your same age, people who live near you, etc. but stop using a forum meant to answer pre-op questions for these threads.

On that note, why don't the admins move the threads to the correct forums? Does this site not have that ability? I have moderated forums before and been able to move topics.

why not email the admin and ask them?

I have been here about 5 years. Almost everyone now uses a mobile device and it's changed things (well, that and the surgery types used to be separated).

To be honest the forums names seem meaningles as i think many just see the new posts and choose to dive in based on the thread title, not the forum name.

It doesn't bother me. I don't really concern myself with where a post pops up, but I will admit that punctuation and paragraphs would be helpful.

I use to focus significantly on this before I had surgery. I was usually always in the pre op forum. Now that I've had surgery though I like to go straight to the "Unread" option on my phone. I find that after surgery the type of procedure that we all had and those differences aren't as important to me as sharing and supporting everyone in their adventure. Regardless of stage or Avenue.

@@andromache, do you really want this to be your troy?

Whether you rant here or fly at the perpetrators, you'll always go "nuts." People either don't understand, don't look or don't see. They just want to have their say regardless of location. At least their topic titles let you know you're not interested. In a perfect world those whose titles are vague or misleading would be banished.

The best you'll ever do here is pass them by.

@@andromache - You don't own this board, neither are you an admin. Simply skip the post you don't want to see.

Hostess with the mostest here.

Sorry to disappoint you but I'm a volunteer. I don't have the time (or desire) to organize the boards all day. I move threads when I've got free time on my hands but that's rare, especially this time of the year.

Now, if you want to pay me for my time and efforts, I'm sure I would be more willing to accommodate. :D

I'm a lap bander...when I come onto this website, I click "New Content" specifically under the "Lap Band" surgery type section....

99% of the people posting in that section are anything but people with the Lap band...

I don't know if the bleed over is intentional, or people do not enter their specific surgery type section....

I find when someone who has had the Lap band posts, the replies are from people with other surgeries, etc.

There IS a difference...when I come across a post, and I see it is from some one who has had, say the sleeve, I do not participate....my experience is not with the sleeve so my input is misdirecting.

The opposite is true.

Then there are people who do not list what surgery they have had at all...

I do understand there are "General" discussion areas, and there are specific "Surgery Type" sections.

So i'll give my 2 cents ....

We're all here basically for the same reason ... We all have been overweight and we all had surgery to help us correct it ... be it lap band, sleeve or bypass ...

HERE is the ONE place we ALL can feel GOOD and like we BELONG ...

There is NO judgement ... there is NO finger pointing ... there shouldn't be any rude or snide comments ...

HERE we are ALL on the same team ... right?

That is why I came here ... to listen to others who need advice or have a question I might be able to answer ...

and vice-versa ...

Shame we can't all get along and see past others short comings ...

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
