Hospital stay question

My doctor has me slotted to stay 2 nights in the hospital, surgery on Tuesday and leave on Thursday. Is this normal? I see where a lot of folks seem to get out the next day.

It's so bizarre how much these procedures vary. I am scheduled for surgery next friday, and it's an outpatient procedure. Going home the same day.
