I got the date the same day I seen my surgeon for the consult. After seeing him I had to see the scheduler and she gave me the date. Might be different for others though. Mine was a couple weeks after seeing the surgeon.

Depends on your requirements, surgeon, etc. I would call your surgeons office and ask.

I don't get the date until I meet my 6 month "wait" required by my insurance. I then go back to my surgeon and depending on the scheduling, I get a date but it may be a month or two out.

it will probably be a lot faster for you then since you are self pay. Did they explain the process at the seminar you went to?

They did talk about it but also said that the surgeon is always so busy

I'm having the same issue. I had my final visit on 10/8 and the surgeon's insurance coordinator said she was going to submit my paperwork to Aetna. When I called Aetna on Tuesday for status, they told me they haven't received anything from my surgeon. I am trying to be patient as I know they are busy. I'm going to give my surgeon's office one more week and if Aetna hasn't received anything by next Thursday, I will call the surgeon's office then.

If you have completed all your pre-op, then call the scheduler. If you are aggressive you can make them fit you in when you want. I had a friend flying in from out of state and I needed my surgery to happen within a certain small window and I pushed the scheduler and got the date I wanted. I have read other people doing the same thing.

@@Lexigurl82 OMG Girl Aetna is giving me the blues. My surgeons office submitted my request on 10-7 and I have bugged Aetna every day since. At first they kept saying they hadn't received clinicals and then they finally said its still pending the nurse is reviewing the case. Maybe I am just anxious because I am supposedly having surgery a week from today. But girl just stay strong. I am praying for you

wow I didn't know Aetna was like that. I called them today and a rep said they finally received the request from the surgeon and that it is pending review. I asked the rep when did they receive the request and he couldn't tell me because their system was acting up smh. I hope we both get an approval soon. Thanks so much for the well wishes and I pray it works out for you also :) @@acyum2008

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
