3 Days Post Op

Hey! I'm new to this board but thought it might give me a suport system that's been thru the surgery and is going thru it at the same time. I've been to support meetings but they are always during times I'm working so they're hard to get to. Anyways, I am 3 days out and I have been on a liquid diet now for 2 weeks. I still have a very, very long way to go! I can definitly say I will never look at soup or broth the same again! My docter was one of those that encouraged the RnY but agreed to "try" the lap band. Even up to minutes before my surgery he was telling me he didn't know if he could do it but he would "try" Evidently he tried hard enough because it happened. That alone is discouragment enough for me but I'm lucky and have really good friends and family that have been encourgaing me along the way. Like I told my docter though, this is isn't supposed to be easy, I should have to work at it!

The only issues I'm really having is the uncomfortable sleep positions and wanting to eat something more then broth and jello. According to my docters specifications I'm not going to be able to eat solid food for another 5 weeks! Anybody else have this issue come up? I understand the first couple of weeks are vital so that your band doesn't slip but woman cannot live on broth alone! LOL

Feel free to e-mail with any suggestions or encouraging words! :o)

:hungry:Did any of you ever actually think we would be sitting here at our computers exchanging ideas on putting tuna in a blender??? Or eggs? One year ago, I was worrying if we had enough syrup for the stack of pancakes. We have come a long way,:clap2:

Hi,

I am two days out from Lap band. My doctor discourages the RnY and is a strong supporter of the Lapband. You don't have the malabsorption issues or hair loss with this procedure. Girl, I am so sick of broth. It looks like dirty water and I just can't stomache it any more. My husband had lab band procedure in June. He has lost 30 lbs and is doing great. The first day of surgery I had mostly ice chips. Yesterday which was one day post op, I had some mashed potatoes. I am suppose to be on clear liquids too, but I just can't stomache it any more.I am not hungry and I don't think of food all the time, the sleep position is on my side and that is the way I slept anyway. I am just sore, but I plan to return to work on Tuesday morning. Good luck.

AWWWW!! is the pain really that bad after surgery?? What about these people that say they went to work the next day??? Being banded on the 19th. and know getting really scared.

The pain is bearable with liquid lortab that the doc prescribed for me. I am moving around alot and walking. I hope to return to work on Tuesday, we will see.

Hey all this is my first post and I'm 3 days post op too! I agree with wildcat mom about the liquid lortab. It's my new favorite thing :o

Just wanted to say hi to everyone and good luck!
