I had to lose 10% over six months of classes. I went on to lose more. By the time I got to the surgeon his only requirement was that I don't gain any weight between the consult and surgery, which was a little over a month.

At my initial consult before my 6 months insurance required supervised weight loss I had already dropped 52lbs on my own from my HW of 340lbs.

My surgeon asked that I lose an additional 2.5% by the end of the 6 months which only came out to just under 8lbs. ((Thankfully that didn't seem too intimidating!)) It wasn't required by insurance, but I think he more wanted to know that I was willing to put the work in and follow a diet pre op. I dropped 10lbs over the 6 months and he was happy. I'm scheduled for 11/10 and start my 2 week diet 10/26! :)

It varies. I didn't have a pre-op diet of any kind.

I was not required to diet preop but now that I have my date and it's a month away I'm so excited and ready to get started I think I will maybe do hCG and blow off 15 pounds before I have my surgery.

In a way I was thinking these are the last few days that I can gulp Water and eat ridiculous sweets but I've spent a lifetime doing that so I'm kind of over it and very ready for this next journey.

I was self pay but my surgeon required I lose 5% of my total weight on my 2 week preop. That was 12 pounds. I lost 22 instead.

I'm 2yrs n 2mths post op. I never had to lose anything before my surgery, I just had to make sure I didn't gain any from my 6mths pre op Dr visits. I think I may have been 10lbs down though. I am now 110lbs down. I do still have 35lbs to go before my ins. Will cut off the belly fat.

I was in a program......became frustrated with the shenanigans the insurance company was playing.

I wound up switching to another surgeon-program-hospital due to the insurance company's mandating I go through a "center of excellence".

Turns out to be a great move.

I like everyone in the staff and have responded well to their guidance.

I became very, very frustrated with further bullcrap from the insurance company and chose to self-pay 100%.

This stepped up my timeline considerably......quite considerably......however the surgeon still wanted me to drop 50 lbs minimum. He was adamant about that. At the current rate, I'll exceed that by a good margin.

I agree, though, it does help to have a numerical goal to shoot for.....with incremental goals, too. I helps drive behaviors in a helpful way.

Best wishes. You've got this.

My doc didn't set an exact weight to lose pre-op.

I was on his fast-track program and only had to do a 1 week diet.

Once I was approved for surgery, completed all the tests, and got my surgery date,

1 week was all the time I had before being sleeved.

I managed to lose 10lbs.

First appt. with doc - Dec 7th 2012... Sleeved and released on Dec 27th 2012.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
