Sliming and foaming! Please help!

Recommended Posts

go to dr next week for 3 mo checkup and first blood work chEckberg, but am so frustrated now. For the past 3 weeks, I can't seem to eat Anything without getting horrible sliming and foaming and nausea. No ff retried Beans even! Please give some insight if you can. I'm starting to get a little scared that I'm going to collapse from malnutrition. I'm already not getting Enough Protein and between 6-700 calories if I keep it down.

Please tell me This is not as serious as it feels.

Thanks so much, sorry to be such a baby!

Sounds like you are experiencing dumping syndrome caused by trying to consume too much at a meal. Are you constraining yourself to the prescribed meal volumes?

Another possibility is that you developed a stricture. But I would think at 3 months, this is rather late. In some cases, scar tissue or inflammation can narrow the new connection between the stomach and intestine. This is called a stricture. Strictures usually develop four to six weeks after surgery, and rarely occur. Patients with strictures will notice that they are progressively less able to take in fluids and food. Strictures can be treated with an endoscope, which is a thin, flexible tube with image sensors and special tools at the tip. A doctor will use an endoscope with a tiny inflatable balloon at its tip to open the stricture.

Anyways it is important to focus on the most important elements which are Protein, fluids and Vitamins. food is secondary because your body is converting your stored fat into energy and thus you lose weight. So from what you said, work on your Protein problems. At your stage another option other than Protein shakes becomes available. These are Protein Bars such as Quest Bar.

Sounds like a stricture to me. Be sure to explain carefully to your Dr and insist on and endoscopy to check for it. If you do have it, they simply dilate with a balloon. Really easy procedure. They may need to schedule for more than once. I just went through this.

Thank you James Marusek (no, I have been very good about no more than half a cup and thought I was chewing enough?) and Daisee68. I couldn't keep my Premier Protein bar down this morning and couldn't eat lunch or drink Water till late afternoon. Needless to say, a rotten day of teaching the little ones today. Stomach is still queesy. I did talk to my surgeon's PA and yes will have to have an upper gi to see if an endoscopy is necessary. I'm going to try to hold off till I see him Monday, after a trip out of town (where I wouldn't eat much anyway for fear of sliming happening at the event.

I appreciate your comments.

Please give any more guidance anytime. I can use all the encouragement I can get.

The 6-700 calories is about right but sounds like a stricture possible plus some of take longer to get through certain stages. It took me almost 4 months to get where more solid bodied foods would go through. As long as fluids will go down and stay concentrate on Protein whatever it takes.

Have fun on your trip out of town. Be careful not to dehydrate. Tiny sip of fluids all day as much as you can. It may be best to stick with fluids until you can see the Dr. I agree it can take some longer to move thru the stages. I was struggling with more than soft food at 3 months and then held nothing in for 4 days. That's when they figured out the stricture. 2 balloon dilation later, I can now eat real food! Have had grilled chicken from restaurants twice this week and had no issues. I can't eat more than 1 1/2 of before feeling full but that's OK. That's how it is supposed to work! The resin I said your sounds like a stricture is that mine got worse throughout the day as I put in more and everything built up. Once I could vomit it all up I felt much better. Turned out I had a very tiny pin hole opening and not even liquids were moving thru very quickly. If that sounds familiar, try to get them to skip the upper GI especially if u have to do a barium swallow. That will make u pretty sick if u have a stricture since the stuff is thick and may not go through. I ended up in ER where they did a CT scan and said everything looked perfectly normal (even the possibility of astenosis). That was on a Wednesday. On Friday they did the EGD after much complaining and found the stricture soothe CT scan was a complete waste of time. Hang in there. As soon as they fix this, u will feel much better!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
