Get a digital scale and practice weighing and measuring your portions

Stop distracted eating: no eating with any lighted screen where you can see or reach it (tv, phone, tablet, computer) -- no distractions allowed other than company. Only eat sitting down at a table. Not standing up, not sitting on a couch, and definitely not in your car.

Teach yourself to eat slowly -- I used the Eat Slower app for my phone to do that

Take up a hobby that involves your hands: knitting, woodworking, anything along those lines.

Like Inner Surfer Girl- I too weaned off of caffeine and refined sugar slowly. By the time I started my liquid diet I had been caffeine free for over two months and carb free except for fruits and veggies for over a month. I think that helped my liquid phase go so much easier.

I also purchased a good scale, baby spoons, and small bowls and plates.

great suggestions. I have one to add....chew your food thoroughly.

I agree. I actually started trying to chew at least 20 times for each bite. It was quite enlightening.
