Share with us: What has improved for you?

I was just thinking in the car earlier about this and thought I would ask you guys to share the list of things that have improved for you since being banded.

Please let us know how long you've been banded, too.

I've been banded since early April and this is my list:

1) I've lost 21# forever

2) I've joined a gym for the first time ever and am loving it!!

3) I've reduced caffeine from 5+ servings per day to 1, maybe 2

4) My recurrent back pain is almost gone completely

5) My plantar faciaitis is almost gone

6) I have way more energy and feel much stronger

7) I move with greater ease

8) I feel sure my bloodwork will be much improved

9) I always have at least 64 oz of Water each day

10) I have reduced my alcohol intake from 6-8 cocktails/week to maybe 3 per month

11) My blood sugars are completely stable (previously hypoglycemic)

12) My salt intake is greatly reduced

13) I have hope

14) I have a bunch of new friends on LBT

15) My sex life has improved

16) I take greater pride in my appearance & self esteem has improved

What about you?

Today I took my granddaughter (2yrs old) to the park, and I climbed up to the spiral slide, and slid down with her, then we sat together on a swing--we used to call is spider swinging--her straddling me while we swang, and we both fit,without the swing being so tight as to cut off circulation to her legs!!! Then when we almost missed the snow cone truck cuz Granny's purse was in the car, we actually run to catch up to it!!!

What a day! Lots of Moms just sitting around, some bigger, some smaller, but few seeming to enjoy themselves. They don't realize how nice it is to be "born again"!!!

I :clap2: Love it when I go for a walk by myself the person that follows me is a thinner person.

My boobs stay in my new pretty bras and don't hang all over the place . I can squat down and be able to bring myself back up without help

I can get up out of the couch much easier.

I don't glutten myself when I do eat because I can have more later.

I love myself

Thanks so much Metalband! I am scared to death about the schooling I have been out of school for many years. But my brain is still working, and I got laid off cuz GM sent my work to Mexico so it is all paid for , I couldnt miss this chance, but wow it is a change of life. Thanks again! Life has sure changed in the past year,lol.

Hi everyone! I just ran across this post and think it is the greatest! Who would think these things that most take for granted are milestones for us! I love it!!!I have lost almost 40 pounds so far and here are a few things that have improved for me........

~~~Waking up every morning knowing I did not eat to much the day before
~~~ my wedding ring fits again

~~~ I smile SO MUCH througout the day it is crazy!
~~~ Fitting better in veichles

~~~ my one sister told me.."I have my sister back"
~~~ I do alot more physical activities with the kids

~~The most special things that have changed~~

~~ When I hold my daughter, instead of her being out by my knees, I can hold her close to my chest~~

~~ The longer hugs I get from my kids because for some reason when your arms fit around ..you feel so much closer~~

~~ The compliments I get from my husband no matter how many times he tells me I look beautiful no matter what size I am ~~

Well tonight we were at the mall, I had to use the ladies room and we were in a hurry so........I was able to hover instead of using paper to sit on! I have not been able to hover and pee for years!!!

Sorry for the image...LOL

I have just begun my journey with the lap band. My consult is on Wednesday and guessing for a surgery date of September 20ish. I am just ready to get my life back. I have a list of 100 reasons I want to lose weight. One for each lb. I plan on crossing these off of my list each lb I lose and keep it posted on my fridge to see. I LOVE this thread and site. I will be here for awhile during the lows and highs, but together we can do this. Thank you everyone for sharing, it gives us newbies some excitement to go with our aprehension. Good luck to everyone on their journey. Lexanne

I'm only about 4 weeks out. I haven't had my first fill yet but things are already getting better...

-I actually now know what feeling "full" is like, before the band I only knew and felt hungry and gorged.

-The scale is actually moving and I'm actually losing, even if a little, I'm losing something!

-I have hope that the band will help me towards successful weight loss.

BUMP!!

Ok, Let's see.... what has improved for me this week??

- I've gone down 1/2 of a shoe size....officially.

- I went shopping the other day and I am definitely and officially out of the Women's department and into regular sizes.

- Exercise motivated me to quit smoking (Today is Day 10!!)

- I am actually LOSING weight after quitting because my band keeps me in check

- When I lay down on my back my ribs are prominent

- My kids are sooooo proud of me -- that feels real good

- Cash stays in my wallet for weeks because I don't spend it on fast food or lunches at work. I bring my own because eating out is a waste of $$!!

Anyone else???

I went to a concert last weekend and there is a huge hill to climb when exiting the venue- this was the first time in 5 years that I didn't have to stop to catch my breath!

I have always thought this would be a great question to ask and I'm glad you posted it Terry! I am prebanded so I can't reply but sure like hearing all your sweet stories!

OncewasaBUBBLEBUTT==I have to say I AM impressed! You are so close to goal!! It must feel pretty good. I started snooping around on this site in March and I remember your earlier beginner posts and you weren't a happy camper and if I remember correctly...(I may be wrong) But I thought you were going to lose the band, but NOW ...you are almost to goal dispite you! LOL...way to go! How was the (quick & steady) journey for you? ...it really is amazing to see this! Everyone keep up the great work!

hmmmm...I just love the word "skinny" being used in the same sentence with my name....

Also, since it is football season you know how they announce the players & their height & weight and the announcers talk about the players and how massive they are? I now weigh less than the linebackers...that used to depress the hell out of me. Those days are over now :)

OMG! I know exactly how you feel!! I love football and watch it every Sunday during season and would get so crazy knowing I weighed more than alot of the players! Not so much now.
