Dumping syndrome or something else?

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I'm a little bit over 3 weeks post op and have been following the rules to a T. I haven't had any sugar or carbs whatsoever. However, a few times this week, including tonight, I've experienced horrible stomach pains followed by the you-know-what that comes along after that. It's driving me crazy bc I'm doing what I'm told. Can someone tell me if that's Dumping syndrome? I have heard a little about it. I don't have all the symptoms but the two I said prior.. help!!

Maybe eating too fast or not chewing enough..slow down and chew and see if it helps.

You won't get true dumping syndrome with the sleeve. But if you changed your supplements or shakes recently, check the nutritional info labels, bc they may have some hidden sugar or something else.

It also could be trying to eat too much volume at once.

I experience the same thing, and I think it's just how my body processes being on an all liquid diet. I get stomach cramps, and then I'd better find a restroom quickly because the "waste" does not want to wait! I met with my NUT today, and she advised adding in some Benefiber, so hopefully that will help. Also, I get to start on pureed foods today (woo hoo!), and I'm hoping that helps, as well.

It happened to me. I was drinking too closely to eating ( it should be at least 30 minutes, for me at that stage, I waited longer). Good luck with it!

I would go see your doctor. I had this symptoms (the pain was absolutely terrible) and it was thrombosis in the intestines. I'm not saying you have it, but if you don't get better you should see him/her. It may be something that needs treatment.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
