Pre-Op Liquid Diet

I am on day 9 of a 2 week pre-op liquid diet to shrink my liver before surgery.

I have only lost 5 pounds!

I'm watching my sodium intake and drinking plenty of Water. And following the diet perfectly.

My PCP (?) said most people lose between 10-15 lbs, but I am nowhere near that! Has anyone else experienced this? I don't really know what to think and My surgery is on July 20th.

Awesome job @@Niki15! I'm down 7lbs in 7 days. You are doing better than me. I'm SO sick ???? of my strawberry shakes (I ran out of the chocolate). Heading to the pharmacy tomorrow to get a better variety.

ME too I have to add sweet n low to make them taste better .. but will try to gocus on other things ..I was craving corn on the cob last night ..:(

Lost 4 lbs day 1 and nothing on day 2, hopefully it changes. I am having a healthy dinner though per docs orders. Are you just doing liquids?

Yes @@Pinkpeonies1 just water sf popcicles sf jello and carnation instan breakfast 4 a day

Lol i've already had 2 popsicles today. I couldn't finish my shake this morning or for lunch, just not appetizing! ????

Getting ready to make another shake my stomach is growling ..ugg cant wait to get this over with ..need August 4th to come faster..

Hello I'm starting my pre-op in the morning surgery is scheduled for August 5, any advice or encouraging words

I found that drinking water helps me stay somewhat full.

Someone suggested making your own broth (if you can have broth on your pre-op diet). I made my own last night and it's pretty yummy. Just watch the sodium in your spices. Much better than the bought stuff. My broth and sugar-free fudgesickles are getting me through. I also like my sugar-free chocolate jello puddings. I add my unflavored protein to my fat free Greek yogurt also. Taste better that way than in drinks. I also bought the ketone strips so I could tell if I were in ketosis. I love the sugar-free chocolate muscle milk 100 Val's version.

I'm not too familiar with ketosis, I kinda get the basics. So if you have gone into ketosis what happens or how do you solve it?

My bad. I thought you meant going into ketosis post-op. I know about shrinking the fatty liver. I also know you go into ketosis on a high protein, low or no carbs diet. I've read when this happens we get bad breath and or body odor, just don't know what we can do about that. So I thought the strips were for knowing when you enter that stage and controlling the side effects and wanted to know the magic cure. Lol.

Hey Yall! I am starting my pre-op diet on the 30th. Any tips to stay focused during this phase? My surgeon said not to worry about weight loss during this phase - it is to shrink my liver. So as long as I (we) stick to it - our liver will shrink making access to the stomach easier for the docs. I am worried about headaches when I dont eat... hopefully, i can get through them. Any advice?

I'm only a few months into my 6 month pre-op program - but what I have found for Protein shakes is using the Premier Protein vanilla premade shakes are really delicious if you add 1 TBSP of sugar free torani syrup. They have at least 20 sugar free flavors. I love the salted caramel, brown sugar, hazelnut.
