After surgery

Was hoping to see the dr. Before I leave Mexico in the morning, but doesn't look like that is going to happen. I am 4 days post op and am having loose almost black bowel movements several times a day the last couple of days. No stomach cramping. Had the barium test, it showed no leaks. Anyone think there is reason to worry?

I would try to see the doc. May be nothing, but for your peace mind, I would insist on seeing the doctor before leaving.

I had the same type BM and mine was from the barium solution from the last leak test. I just let it clear out of my system. It's disappointing that you can't see your doctor before you leave. Mine came to my apartment where I was staying the night before I flew out to check on me. So did my NUT. Good luck!!

The barium can cause black stool. Also, if you have taken any bismuth (pepto bismol), it can cause black stools as well.

My doctor was Dr. Jesus Lopez. He is going to come check on me this morning before I leave. I am hoping it is just a side effect of the barium, did not have it before I took it. I had the barium test on sunday, I would think it would have been out of my system by now. Especially with no food to slow it down :)
