Surgery tomorrow!

So, I'll be under the knife at 7:30 tomorrow morning. I tucked my kids in at their cousin's house, charging my iPad, gassed up the car (hospital is 45 min away without traffic)... I'm starting to get nervous!!! There's a tiny part of my brain that is freaked my kids might never see me again! Totally irrational, I know, but still scary! It doesn't help that I've had a migraine since starting clear fluids!! I know this is worth the discomfort but I really hope the headache and nausea get better quick and I can be a better, happier, more energetic mommy soon!!! Wish me luck!!!

Good luck! You've got this and we will see you on the other side, saving you a seat!

Good Luck!

Just remember to push that pain med button! :D

Good luck, good luck! I know I'm going to be anxious one week from today. Keep us posted. :)

Congrats on your big day!

I felt the same way you did I just had surgery this past Thursday. You will be fine and your kids will see you again. This is a surgery that they have been performing on the regular for the past 20-30 odd years. This surgery has the same risk as most general surgeries. Just like they tell you when you are having a baby their are risk of complications. As long as you are a non smoker and don't have any of the other risk factors that make surgery worse you will be fine. And you will not want that iPad.

@@incredibleshrinkingnurse and bigfatgoodbye: I'm sending prayers and positive vibes your way!!!! Go easy... Take it one day at a time... And come back and let us no how your doing post op!!!! Congrats and good luck to you both!!!!

Wishing you luck & a speedy recovery!!! I'll be joining you on the losers bench June 30th!! Yay!!

Thanks for all the support guys! It went well and aside from the initial severe nausea I'm feeling pretty good. Got home last night around 9pm. Today I've walked for 45 minutes, got all my protein and fluids in. Ate about 800 calories in full liquids. Seems like a lot on day 1. Worries me that I'll get hungry once the swelling goes down!!! I think I'm more thirsty than anything. Most of my life I have been a big water drinker. 3-5 liters a day ! So this 64oz business feels really low!!! Is 800 cal a day an appropriate goal? My NUT said not to worry about anything but protein and water but...

Just wanted to check in and see how you're doing. Oh and 800 calories per day seems to be the norm. That's the same amount I was told though I don't think I have to worry about calories until I start on solid foods

Thanks for checking in! The Bari RN called yesterday and told me not to worry about the calories too, like that's even possible when we're tracking everything else! :-P I'm ok. Still sore but that's to be expected. Surprisingly I'm a bit hungry but it's not too bad. Maybe I need a stronger PPI... Trying not to take the pain meds during the day so I can hang with my kids!

So glad to hear you are doing well enough to skip pain meds. Gives me hope I'll be able to do the same. Have you tried the unjury chicken soup? My husband and I have been taste testing nearly every brand to find out what I'll be able to handle after surgery. (I have a texture and flavor issue and already get nauseated easily) The Unjury brand was the best! The chicken soup was satisfying and the chocolate mixed with milk actually tasted like nesquik powder flavored chocolate milk. (Can't have that during clear liquids tho) I was pretty impressed. You can order it all from their website.

(Just don't mix the chicken soup while the water is hot. It clumps) :)

Hi

I have had 2 ports replaced due to leaks cause by miss guided needles, and the others due to weightloss causing them to break free of the stitches that where holding them in place and my body rejecting them and causing lost of Fluid build up around the spot theye where.

In 2002 I had 5 operations to fix my port they decided in the end to remove it and let my body recover and fight the infection it had from it all.

That was July so over 12 months ago now in the mean time I have had my Tummy Tuck done which was called a half TT due to scars on my tummy they wouldn't go up as high due to blood flow worries they normaly go up to the ribs when they release the skin and fat from the muscles under it, but on me they could only go up half way to the ribs so I still have some loose skin there but hell don't have that spare tire around my waist that rolled over my belt a long way.

Hell it was a big tire as I have lost 300 pounds so far and want to still loose more I had the TT done earlier than Normal to get the port replaced, as it was the loose skin that cause last years problems.

Anyway if anyone has a question /s just ask OK
