Lesson learned!

I'm going to be honest, I hadn't any trouble with keeping food down until my first major fill 3 weeks ago. It took me back to my surgery basics--small bites, chew & chew & chew some more, stay hydrated & Protein first. I wasn't following the rules & was losing most everything I was eating. I was uncomfortable & burping a lot (apologies for being so blunt). After a call to the dr's office, had a 1:1 with the nutritionist who reminded me of the band basics. Things are much better & I'm actually down 16 pounds. I've noticed since my last fill (I've only had 2), I can no longer tolerate anything "bad" for me, so I'm not even tempted because I can't keep it down anyway. I remember reading that many banders can't tolerate rice, fried foods, steak... I've happily joined that club. :)

I've been eating well & exercising--my goal weight is 180... okay, really 160 but I'm almost afraid to believe I can get there.

Thanks for letting me share! Here's a pic of me before & after. post-235553-14342286415768_thumb.jpg

Good job!!. Keep working the basics and COMPLY. It will get you where you want to go . I learned over the years to quit challenging my band.

It is hard to not go back to bad habits, but since I don't like the consequences ....literally 8+ years.. I'm still learning. Sigh

I still think occasionally I will have a Late snack ( head hunger when I'm tired) and it DOES NOT work out well

So I learn again and keep trying.

Happy and healthy with one hundred lbs gone. A whole new life...

Best of luck!????

They started teaching me the "Rules" with hand outs and other reading materials, BEFORE I had my surgery....Finally I asked them what this was all about, and told them it made no sense IMO.......

I was told that they start to stress learning this rules ASAP, because there will come a day you wished you did because you will need to follow them for sure....

They were right....it took me 2 fills, but after that second one, boy did I need to adhere to the "Rules" and how...!

I could not eat without them!

I remember going back and looking for the original handouts and reading them again just to make sure I ws not missing anything.....

But after a few years, it all becomes second nature...the rules become new habits, working in harmony with a properly adjusted band.
