I saw surgeon in March did all my test and psych saw dietitian and 6 support group meetings as well Aug will be my 6 months. It all depends on Insurance and what the require. It goes pretty fast after you have done all the requirements and it's approved also sometimes the doctor wants you to lose a certain amount before surgery mine didn't give me a number just put me on a pre op diet.

  • 2 months later...

Mine is scheduled for Sept 9 - exactly 2 weeks from today!

I don't have to do a liquid diet prep, just supposed to be continuing to eat well up until surgery. However, I've been having a few food funerals :(

I can't have mine until Oct 5th now I have my pre op class Sept 22nd I was told not to lose anymore weight until I have surgery. I have been having food funerals as well and still not gained any weight iv cut back on protein until I have surgery also. I have gave my self a few cheat days and I know it's not the best thing but iv not gone to crazy and my weight has stayed the same as long as I stay active I think I'll be okay.

@@emiko_oz I am Sept. 11 as well!

My Dr. only requires 5 days pre-op liquid diet, but I have decided I am going to start 10 days before, so I am starting it next Tuesday. I can't wait for the surgery (that sounds crazy, right?).

I don't have to do the five day liquid diet. I only have to do it one day. My doctor just requires me to do a pre op class 2 weeks before surgery. Iv been told not to lose any more weight so anything more then a day would be too much for me.

I'm pretty excited !! My first appt was Aug 19. ( I'm self pay ) This is moving quickly. Really enjoy reading everyone journey.

@@emiko_oz I bet as a self-pay things are going to move really fast for you. No insurance rigamarole to worry about, no insurance authorization, etc. Great decision, I am sure you will be very happy. I was not sure my insurance would pay for it, but if they didn't I had already decided I would self-pay, because the health benefits are so important.
