It is an activity tracker that you wear on your wrist. I have one and I love it. I have the Fitbit Charge which measures steps, floors climbed, calories burnt (connect to My Fitness Pal to add in food), tracks my sleeping, and has a silent (vibrating) alarm that wakes me in the morning. I love mine!! It motivates me to get my step goals in every day! Let me know if you have any more questions.
