Banded February 9

I was wondering if any after being banded was not hungry at all. I am able to drink some water but don't really want that either. I it does feel a little weird going in my belly now I'm just assuming it's something I have to get used too.

Today is a better day. Just a little discomfort

i think just after surgery we all went through this. where they sew your band in place and your port are swollen from the surgery. it almost feels like you have had fills but you have not. also medications can make you feel less hungry. almost all have had their hunger returned. just keep pushing liquids.. you can become very ill if you get dehydrated. try sugar free popsicles they might hit the spot.

Thanks so much. It makes me feel so much better hearing what others have gone threw. Ice pops were great yesterday. Today I'm going to try to have a protein shake. What's funny is my stomach is starting to growl but not hungry but I feel good

So during the first two weeks we can only have liquids like water, Crystal light, clear soup and the protein drink and that's all???? Can anyone help me.

@@stay75 I think a lot of it depends on who your surgeon is. I was on a liquid diet only for the week after my surgery. I've since moved onto soft solids e.g. scrambled eggs.

@@Mands15 I am having the same problem! I am stiill hungry post op day #4! :(

Just so we are on the same page, the band will not suppress hunger it will allow you to feel satiety for a long period eating a much smaller portion. Once your swelling goes down you can better assess your band requirement.

If you're hungry 4 days post-op, perfect, thats a tell-tell sign your swelling has already receeded.

If youre NOT hungry and/or only comfortably tolerating liquids with no pain chances are youre still swolen.

Do not force anything down U will hurt yourself

every doctor has their own protocol. liquids can include anything that doesn't require chewing . make your own Soup and emulsify adding enough broth to make it liquid. don't restrict yourself so much but allow yourself all you are allowed to eat. you should have gotten a list from your doctor. be smart and healthy.
