February 7, 201511 yr I am curious as to what other Doctors Post Op diet looks like. I see everyone talking about puréed food, and I don't have that on my post-op diet. My diet seems really different than everything I'm reading. I know everyone's doctor is different, but this liquid is really starting to get to me. I am now on my 4th week of liquids when you add the 2weeks pre-op. I am dying to start chewing. Just curious when everyone starts to eat food and not drink it? Btw, below is my Post Op Diet Day1-21 Full liquid diet Anything that can go through a strainer. No yogurt, Jello, pudding etc. Day 22-42 Soft solid foods Ground beef, chicken, turkey Fish, egg whites Canned chicken or tuna, deli meat thinly sliced Creamy Peanut Butter Cottage cheese Canned fruit banana Soft cooked or canned vegetables Well toasted breads and crackers Yogurt
February 7, 201511 yr Days 1-2 after surgery - Clear Liquids including Protein shake made with Water Days 3-10 - Full liquids including pureed Soups and Protein shakes made with milk Days 11-20ish - soft foods - pretty much whatever that can be smashed with a fork ie scrambled eggs, sweet potato, etc 21 and on - normal consistency foods
February 7, 201511 yr Author Thanks. I thought the 21 days of clear liquids seemed extreme from everything I've been reading.
February 7, 201511 yr Mine is a week for each step until back to regular food. So 1 week clear, full, puree, soft then regular.
February 7, 201511 yr Author So does that mean you were eating regular food after 4 weeks? That's great.
February 7, 201511 yr Not quite yet but thats the goal. I was just sleeved on 1/30/15. The doctor moved my to full liquids yesterday and told me every friday to go to the next step.
February 7, 201511 yr Author I was sleeved on 27th and lost 18 pounds already (including pre-op). How about you?
February 7, 201511 yr My post op diet is in one month increments. Days 1-30: full liquids Days 31-60: purée food Days 61-90: soft food Then I transition to regular..
February 7, 201511 yr Author Oh my. Thanks for sharing this. This is the first I have heard of such an extreme diet. That's seems tough. Which phase are you currently on?
February 8, 201511 yr I am 11 days post op and I was full liquids for the first week then soft/mushy foods the 2nd week then I can start adding regular foods after that. Has anyone else had a post op diet like this?
February 8, 201511 yr Author Looks like we had surgery the same day, Jan 27th. You are almost ready for regular food? I'm jealous. This fluid is on my nerves. How much weight have you lost so far?
February 8, 201511 yr Author I'm down 18. Most of that was last week and pre-op. This week has not been as fast. Only lost 4 this week. 50 to go.
