Hi my name is Crista I live in California and I am seriously considering the lapband..Looking for anyone in California that can give me a referal, ever try the laprascopic docs from san Francisco? I am really interested in side effects, danger, and outcome. What do I have to do to get started with the process? Both of my sisters and my mother had gastric bypass. I am not that obese, I have 60-70 pounds to lose~Do you feel the band inside of you? Any replies would be great!

Hey Crista, I am not in California, but would be happy to share with you. I think lapband would be perfect for you if you only have 60-70 pounds to lose. I have lost that much, but still want to lose another 40 or 50. You cannot feel the band inside you, just the port that lies below the skin. And as you lose, it seems to get a little more prominent, but it is still no big deal. The port is where they inject the saline for your fills. I hope you find a good referral--I know there are several people on here from California. On the November Bandsters thread I belong to there are a few, so you might read through some of those posts, and pm some of them, and ask them for a referral. I'm sure they would be happy to help. A friend and I were banded at the same time. I have a high BMI while hers was low, she had about as much to lose as you have. It's been less than a year and she's now at goal weight and looking fantastic.
