Suggestions for broth?

Hi everyone, I am due for surgery in 2 1/2 weeks and was getting stuff ready and prepared here for when I get home. What are the best broths to have on hand for the clear Fluid stage? All I can think of is Campbells beef or chicken broth in the cardboard carton........there must be better than that?? Thanks

  • Swanson make yummy broths like hot n sour, Thai ginger, Mexican tortilla, jambalaya.....ect.

  • You can have the juice from chicken noodle soup as well and it's really comforting on your tummy, I'm 3days out and so far that has been the easiest thing to tolerate. Also veggie brooth is very good

  • I used beef bouillon cubes in hot water. Easy on my tummy and the warm liquid was satisfying. Had that and protein shakes, 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after surgery. Lost 27 lbs that month.

I'm planning on going to my local Vietnamese shop and asking for a container of there homemade broth pho just no noodles or veggies.

Schwan's chicken broth with half a baby can of spicy V8. I ended up buying the low sodium cartons of the broth. Sounded nasty to me at first but after the sweet Protein drinks, something savory was welcome. I think it may not sound that good to me now.

Best wishes through this stage.

I love the swansons chicken broth!

Swansons Chinese hot and sour and tortilla soup base starter, strained wonton soup, strained French onion, egg drop soup before adding the egg, and I got the low sodium chicken and beef broths.

Once you switch from clear to full liquids you can add in lobster bisque, potato leek, butternut squash, blended split pea, tomato and cream Soups (chicken, mushroom, asparagus, spinach, celery, etc). I always added unflavored Protein powder to kill two birds with one stone.

100% awesome sauce!

In addition make your own. Specially if your preop. You can cook and the. Freeze clear broth from veggies and such.

Sipping along the clear broth path for you :)

And you can freeze your own homemade broth in ice cube trays, using however many you want at a time. Works for other pureed foods, as well. Good luck with your surgery!

What fabulous ideas. Thanks for sharing everyone.

I've been looking for those but haven't found them yet. Hopefully I will soon! :)

I called our favorite Mexican restaurant and ordered tortilla soup without the tortillas...I strained the chicken and cheese off and set aside for hubby's burrito and thoroughly enjoyed the broth.
