Pre op diet

I've seen some people post about the pre op diet, and some have asked if it is really possible to do. Has anyone attempted to follow the pre op diet before you actually had to follow it for surgery? Or is this not advisable?

I did a breakfast smoothie for couple weeks before I started and often had a salad for dinner. Helped me to figure out what I liked for smoothie. Most of all by the time I started preop I knew I could do it.

I've been doing a breakfast shake for a few months now... I was thinking about starting to of a shake at lunchtime too. And of course having a sensible meal at dinner.

My surgeon only made me go off of starch for the month before surgery and a liquid diet the day before.
